Meghalaya: The Gem Of India

Meghalaya is a beautiful state that comes with unmatched beauty in all forms of nature. It became the state in 1972  by craving 2 districts from Assam the meaning of the word Meghalaya is derived from the Sanskrit word which means abode of cloud. It is considered as the gateway of the northeast. Meghalaya sees the hide-and-seek between the sun and rain.

Surrounded by 3 alluring hills khasi, Jainta, and Garo Hills, it offers simple and untouched beauty to its visitors. It has stunning natural features like tumbling waterfalls, immaculate rivers, natural caverns, and a vibrant cultural legacy. Meghalaya is a region practically midway between heaven and earth, with the stunning Cherrapunjee waterfalls and the crystal-clear waters of Umngot.

How To Travel To Meghalaya?

Like the other northeastern states, Guwahati serves as a bridge for Meghalaya’s entryway. your trip to Meghalaya will begin from  Shillong.

A domestic Shillong airport is serviced by flights from Kolkata, Guwahati, and New Delhi. However, arriving in Guwahati and then continuing on to Shillong would be the best way to enter Meghalaya.

Guwahati is the nearest railway station hub. At Paltan Bazar, just outside the Guwahati Railway Station, you can find shared jeeps and taxis. Buses can be accessed from the ASTC Bus Stand outside the train station. Regular buses are also accessible from Guwahati’s ISBT, Beltola. Additionally, shared taxis and jeeps are also available from Khanapara in Guwahati.

The Sumos may be purchased at the Bara Bazar Sumo Stand, which is close to ewduh if you prefer to ride in shared vehicles. There are also shared Sumos available from that location to other locations such as Dawki, Kongthong, and Nongstoin.

 Bike riding is a feeling in itself, You can also hire a bike if you want to roam the city on the bike because it’s very tempting for youngsters. It will cost around 1500 to 2000 if you hire a bike.The number of shared jeeps is far lower in unusual locations. Therefore, plan ahead and learn about the vehicle timings if you want to travel around Meghalaya in shared vehicles.

  Is Meghalaya Safe To Travel?

As we know that the state is one of the least developed in India. About 3/5 of people are only literate because of partition some tribes found themselves divided by new international frontier, but I can assure you it’s safest to travel. People are friendly and always ready to help.

It’s even safe for women and group of friends also can travel alone if they want to.

Best Time To Visit Meghalaya?

The weather in Meghalaya is tropical. The winter season, which runs from One such Indian location that is lovely all year round is Meghalaya. October to March is the greatest time to go. But if you want to see the waterfalls in all their splendors, go between August and the beginning of October, right at the conclusion of the rainy season or shortly after.
